In Antarctica, photography is an act of patience.

You wait for the ocean to breathe, for silence to settle, for a whale to decide the moment.
This last Antarctic expedition reminded me why I photograph the poles:
to document what still remains wild, vast, and untouched —
and to share it with respect.

Most of the photographs were taken from a kayak, during calm and exceptionally beautiful weather conditions.
Throughout those days, whales were actively feeding around us, surfacing repeatedly in close proximity, creating an extraordinary and respectful encounter with wildlife.

These whale images were captured during a photographic expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula, between November 27 and December 2. All images were photographed using a Canon R5 with a 70–200mm lens.
