Every year from October through April the humpback whales make a migration from the feeding grounds of Alaska to the warm shallow protected waters of Hawaii.
They migrate here to mate, give birth, and nurse young. On this day we spent a few minutes with a Mother and her young calf.
We chose to leave them after a few mins, and look for some other Humpbacks. I spotted what appeared to be a lot of whale activity about 3/4 of a mile away.
When we got within a few hundred yards the whales seemed to be quite interested in our raft. They approached our raft several times.
One of the best whale experiences I’ve had to date.
