The First Time I Saw Whales! – 07/04

The first whales I saw in the wild were when I was camping at Nels Bight in Cape Scott Provincial Park on Vancouver Island. I had previously seen the orcas at the Vancouver Aquarium and they were cool but didn’t have a real impact on me. These wild orcas though, they were way out at the mouth of the bay, but were so magical to me. I was just 14 years old at the time, but that was when I truly fell in love with whales. I don’t have any photos… they were so far away and all I had was one of those disposable film cameras! The memory is etched in my mind though  🙂
