T099’s and T037A’s from the Edmonds Fishing Pier – 24/10/23

I was following the sightings reports today on Orca Network and Puget Sound Orcas of 2 families of Bigg’s Killer Whales that were heading South from Clinton, the T099’s and the T037A’s.

They got close to Edmonds so I was getting my jacket and got a call from my friend Ariel to get to the fishing pier NOW!!

I got there as fast as I could, just in time to see the whales breaching and playing like crazy!

Saratoga was with them but they left for Port Townsend shortly after I got there.

Turns out, the orcas were attacking birds!

I’ve seen them do this many times, don’t know if they eat them, but they breach on them and tail slap them.

Here’s a few shots from the pier and marina beach.

It was pretty windy, rough and rainy but fun to see some action!
