Summer with the Orcas – 18/6/23

We have started our summer whale-watching excursions. And what is best than celebrating Orca Awareness Month with orcas?

As we headed out to sea this morning, we came across a small group of orcas, 6-7 individuals. They were mingling around the shore, and we lost them quite soon.

However, on the way back from the trip, we saw 70+ seagulls circling in the air in the distance

It is always a sign that something is going on. We only needed a few seconds to witness the tall black fins in the distance.

I assume that the group was feeding because of the bird activity. However, we did not see what they were feeding on. Some types of fish.

These orcas in the summertime behave differently than the ones we encounter in the wintertime in the fjords following the herring migration.

We hope to find orcas more times, and we will document everything, so we all can learn more about them!

Stay tuned for more!
