Everyone knows how much I love Humpback Whales, but I have to say that Sei Whales are a very, very close second! Every spring I hope it’s a “Sei Whale” spring. Meaning that I hope we get to catch at least a couple of individuals surface feeding. Well, today was an absolutely incredible day to be out at sea in the company of whales… SEI WHALES!

There were a few random individuals scattered throughout the area, but we also found a large concentration of individuals all actively feeding at the surface.

It didn’t matter which direction you looked in, you were guaranteed to see skim feeding or lunge feeding by at least one individual and many times two or more could be seen feeding side by side.

These trips are definitely few and far between! For people who don’t get out there frequently, it was definitely a once in a lifetime kind of trip and I’m so happy for all of the first time whale watchers who got to experience this during their first time in the company of whales.
