Orca’s in the Sunshine – 31/10/22

Orcas everywhere

Today we headed out with Norbi and a young skipper who will have his first season with the whales. Norbi was asked to teach him how to behave around the whales. We are happy to report that we saw many orcas in the Kveanengen area.

In the morning, we heard about a feeding frenzy around Seglvik. By the time we arrived, the feeding was mostly over. Pods of orcas were traveling around in the area. There were many pods around, was nice to see familiar faces/fins.

We stayed with one particular pod today. As the orcas approached the boat a couple times closer, we could smell that they had a good breakfast. Their blows smelled like herring.

Early November is still an excellent time to get some shots with sunlight on the orcas, so I tried to capture beautiful “sunny” moments.

Tomorrow we will have our first day with guests this season!

Can’t wait to show the whales to all of them!
