Every day spent with Orcas is a fantastic day.

Today, we were lucky to encounter a small group of orcas, 5 individuals, 3 fully grown males, and a female calf pair.

Throughout the time we spent with them, they were engaged in a feeding activity.

Towards the end of the tour, this was confirmed when the calf tossed a herring toward us.

The calf made several attempts to catch the herring, and once, I managed to catch its little teeth. They are in such great shape (the photo was made with a telephoto lens and cropped).

The calf was often seen swimming with one of the adult males. Male orcas are known to babysit the calves to help the females in their group, a phenomenon known as alloparenting.

Enjoy!
