This was my last encounter where the entire T046 line was present. The family was cruising northbound on a glassy evening in Haro Strait. Pictured here is T046 “Wake” on the left with some of her family. Unfortunately Wake did not return this year and has presumed to have passed. She leaves behind many kids and grandkids to pass on her legacy!
Wake was a part of the final capture back in the 70’s. She was released with the others after sometime in a sea pen due to the violent nature of the capture. “Puget Sound Whales For Sale” is an excellent book that covers many of the stories of captured whales in the Salish Sea.
