We are well and truly in orca season here off Snaefellsnes, West Iceland and even a few guests to whale watch with! 

But this was a rare day on 11th May with glass calm, blue seas the likes of which we do not see often in this part of the North Atlantic. 

The orcas here are mostly feeding on herring and this day they were incredibly spread out, only coming up one at a time in a large area. But there were a few groups around.

It was the conditions that made it very special and memorable though as we would see the orcas appearing under the glassy seas before they broke the surface. This is one of my favourite times with the Killer Whales.
