Flame the Humpback – 5/24

During my trip to Juneau, Alaska, I went on a whale-watching tour. As we sailed through the bay, the captain explained that they identify humpback whales by the unique marks and patterns on their tails.

We soon spotted one, and the captain recognized her as Flame.

He told us she’s well-known in the area and has had six documented calves. It was incredible to see up close a whale that has helped her species survive.
