Close Encounter with Dolphins

We were down in Bimini, filming the great hammerheads, which are exactly what they sound like. They are just gigantic hammerheads. Super amazing, super cool.

And we had to take a boat out to the area, and on our way back, we saw a pod of wild dolphins. And I was like, oh, my God. And the captain of the boat was like, oh, would you like to get in the water? And I was like, well, yeah, can you just drop us off right here? He was like, no, they’re gonna go away. But wait, he’s like, I think I know what direction they’re going. Cause I kind of see this group. I’m gonna take you up, I’ll put you guys in the water where I think they might pass you, and then I’ll back off.

And we did that. I was so excited, I jumped in. I think I had a mask. I just like, I get too excited and I just jumped in. And they came right up to us. They started clicking and you could feel them scan your body, which was the coolest thing. You could just feel them.

And they stayed with us and they swam and Philippe was diving down and they were following him.

And I was just at the surface sounding like a dolphin because I was like eeeeeee! And knowing that they had a choice obviously to swim away, if they were to hang out with us, it was. They probably stayed with us for half an hour.

And I think that was my favorite.
