Southern Right Whales

Southern Right Whales are one of three Right Whale species and the only one found in the Southern Hemisphere. They were named because they were the “right” whale to hunt due to the fact that they are slow swimmers and would float after they were killed. As an endangered species they are now protected in all of their breeding grounds and there are approximately 10,000 individuals in the population.
