Insane encounter with Bigg’s (Transient) Orca’s this afternoon!
We had the T35As, T38As and T123s on a sea lion kill, watched them celebrate, then watched them take down a second sea lion and, while the adults ate, all the youngsters chased and killed 7-8+ Rhinoceros Auklets!
I’m still speechless.

T123C “Lucky” attempted to breach repeatedly on a Rhinoceros Auklet. She seemed to be one of the ring leaders in the endeavour to chase (and kill) as many birds as possible while the adults consumed a sea lion nearby.
It’s amazing to see the power these animals can exert.
The T35As and T38As, among others, are known bird killers. Pretty sweet to see their reputation put to the test…and let’s just say they exceeded any and all expectations.
They vocalized off the charts and erupted out of the water left-and-right.
Definitely the best Bigg’s (Transient) Killer Whale tour of the season!
