Today, after another 3 days on land with heavy storms, we finally had a chance to get out at sea.

I was curious if we will find anything in the morning…However, despite the fact, that is already the 19th of January the fjord is still full of life.

There were at least 3-4 separate reports of orcas in the surrounding area, and we also found a pod, with at least 12-15 individuals.

It was a big swell coming in from the west and when we found “our” pod, we spent the day together with them, they were just slowly cruising around.

There were several females together with their calves in the group and they really enjoyed riding the big waves.

One female was in a very peaceful mood, and she was just floating on the surface waiting for a big wave to move her forwards She did that multiple times

We have also encountered 2 humpback whales towards the end of the day.
We are so happy to report that the animals are still around, which means there are still herring in the fjords.

Tomorrow is again going to be a day onshore, but we are crossing our fingers for sightings over the weekend.

This January has quite heavy weather with a lot of rain and snow!

Enjoy!
