Tell me how I am supposed to choose one photo for a post when this is the kind of view we were blessed with this past weekend?

Myself and a few other whale nerds traveled to Telegraph Cove to explore the Broughton Archipelago with @seasmokewhalewatching. Nate and Jeannine were the most incredible guides and our group was nothing but impressed with their skill, knowledge and service. We even did that thing that we all hate when guiding ourselves- and gave them a wish list of species to see. And they delivered on every single one!

Seeing the Northern Resident Orcas has been a dream of mine for 20 years and to have 4 days in a row of land and boat based sightings will make this weekend hard to top. We spent time with A, G and R clan and listened live to C clan members as they passed by Orca Lab this morning before we left. The R and C clan members who came into the area have not been seen in their waters for 5 years!

This trip to Telegraph Cove has been filled with many incredible things but seeing the Northern Residents with my own eyes for the first time has been the best part of it all. Reading about this population of whales was what got me obsessed with whales in general and its taken a good 20 years to see them for myself!

We also caught up with the A50s while watching feeding humpback whales and they had a surprise Pacific White sided Dolphin escort! It was even on our wishlist to see, no matter how unlikely it was to see, and yet we had dolphins with orcas two days in a row!
