After five days stuck on land (due to heavy wind), finally, today, we got the chance to go out on a whale-watching excursion.
We were welcomed by a large group of orcas (20+) individuals.
They were probably fish eaters due to the size of the group. Some fins were similar to the previous winter season However, we have not seen them feeding. Therefore this is not confirmed.
They were traveling/scouting the area. The group had several (4-5) fully grown males, so it was a highly male-dominated pod.
Based on the reports from other boats, this group was one of many in the area today.
Let’s hope they find something to eat and stick around.
Enjoy!
