Today we have had another unforgettable day.
In the area where we found the orcas, the water was a bit wavy, so the orcas had to lift their head higher above the surface to be able to breathe, an excellent opportunity for us to see their face.
We found a group of orcas working on something, and it quickly turned into a feeding frenzy.
We were there from the very start, and this time the herring had chosen our boat as shelter, so sometimes the orcas were literally right next to the boat. In one of the photos, you can see a female who “smiled” right into the camera before diving under the boat. You can see the shadows of the seagulls on her skin.
In some photos, you can see the stunned herring trying to escape next to our boat, but the poor fish had no chance…Orca under, seagulls above.
Today, the humpback whales probably stayed in the area where all the commercial herring fishing vessels were. No humpback whales have joined the feast.
The orcas seemed to be very happy feeding, without humpback whales or snorkeling activity. This time, they were not disturbed, so the feeding lasted longer.
Sometimes, the animals decided to pause a little from feeding and enjoy and ride the waves around us.
Certainly, a sight to remember
