It’s raining black and white in New Zealand! We found the same group of Killer Whales again today!!
A lot of foraging, presumably on sting rays in the shallows. After a few successful kills, they were on their way and started heading towards us!
It’s amazing how similar the behavior is to the Bigg’s (Transient) Killer Whales in the Pacific Northwest. Similar group structure, dive patterns and social activity. It’s been a huge privilege to get to spend time with these animals…..this is a pretty cool place!
Looks like Koru got a little scratch on his rostrum from hunting in the shallows
Check out the shot with NZ123 “Koru” and the skytower in downtown Auckland right behind him! One tower leading into the next!
