An Autumn Evening with Whales – 10/24

Two grey whales known as Ditto and Winter (you will remember Ditto was a frequent visitor last winter in this spot) have been feeding near my home for over a month now.

It’s so reassuring to look out and see their steady blows. Near the start of their visit in the first week of October I took my tiny boat out and tied up to a kelp bed near shore to drift with the waves and watch them feed as the sun set behind the island. It was a perfect send off to the 2024 season on the water!
