We have had a young humpback named Phoenix in Ketchikans Tongass Narrows for 30 consecutive days bubble feeding on krill. He loves feeding right off the deep cruise ship docks and inside our city float harbor where many boats are tied up. He’s become a local celebrity and sometime 30+ whale watchers will come together lined on the cruise ship docks or harbor dock, he’s brought so much joy during this pandemic
One of my favourite encounters with him is where he was only 10-15 feet in front of all is whale watchers that were standing on the end of a dock. You can hear all the cheers from everyone watching.
Sadly Phoenix has moved on from Ketchikan, Alaska. What a rush the whole month of November was!
