Just last week, I mentioned we were overdue for Orcas, and sure enough, yesterday while Skookum was heading up Bedwell Channel for a charter, they ran into a pod of Orcas!
I quickly made the decision whether to head out on my small personal boat or book onto a tour in Tofino and decided to head out with @ahous_adventures and their guide David! What a great trip that was and so nice to be out on one of their cabin cruisers again!

In the afternoon, Skookum and I both wrapped up just in time to see the pod come through the Tofino Harbour and wrap around the west side of the outer islands of Clayoquot Sound, keeping an eye on the pod in the massive surf while they navigated the reefs and jagged shoreline. Eventually some other boats came out to start their tours and we headed back into calmer waters.

There’s also a new calf in the pod, featured in all four of these photos! Just like little T068C3A, this calf has a near identical scrape on their rostrum, as well as one on the top leading edge of their dorsal fin!

A super curious coincidence! I’m not sure if this calf has been assigned an ID number but I will update as soon as I know!
