Yesterday, we were immensely fortunate as we encountered one of the most rarely spotted animal on the planet: the Blainville beaked whale (Mesoplodon Densirostris). We were even blessed enough to see 3 individuals!
The Canary Islands are one of the best spots in the world to see these animals, and yet, even here, it remains a very rare sighting.
Spending 95 % of their life under the surface thanks to an extraordinary metabolism and performing dives as deep as 2000 meters, very little is known about these mysterious marine mammals.
That was probably one of those once in a lifetime experiences for me and I feel very grateful for it.
