What a great day!
We headed out this morning looking for whales and we ended up at Race Rocks lighthouse near Victoria BC! We counted at least 3 humpbacks but two stayed close to where we were at so we watched them.
They have been ID’d BCY1222 “Hammer”, 2019 calf of Claw and MMY0459!
We also toured the rocks around the lighthouse which were covered with tons of sea lions, seals, gulls and I saw a few oyster catchers as well.
On the way back to Edmonds, I spotted a blow near Mutiny Bay Whidbey Island! I told Captain Tony and he turned around so we could see who we had found! It turned out to be my favorite humpback, CS631 “Two Spot”!
Tony said we could watch one more set of blows and this time, Two Spot started heading right for us!
Tony cut the engine and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, all of a sudden Two Spot popped up right up against the bow of the boat, blowing on everyone!
He proceeded to hold us hostage for 45 minutes, lol while he got his people watching in for the day!
Thank you Captain Tony! Super fun day on Swiftsure!
