A Dolphinny Day – 13/10/20

We set out on this trip out of Dana Point Harbor on a sunny, calm afternoon. With no previous whale sightings during the day, I was hoping to spot some dolphin activity.

Eventually we found a group of common dolphins, some displaying aerial behaviors.

We headed north, searching for other animals. The crew found a group of coastal Bottlenose Dolphins.

As we motored away from them, they began to ride our wake. At times 5 or 6 bottlenose would leap out of the wake at once.

Even though we weren’t lucky with the whales on this trip, the dolphin sightings certainly made it worthwhile.
