A rainy day at sea in the Hebrides became one of the most memorable of the summer. ????????
We got a sighting alert from the @hwdt_org that John Coe and Aquarius were in the area and we were lucky enough to be out on the water. These two male bull orca are thought to be the last living members of the west coast community so seeing them is extremely special.
Its a mix of emotions seeing these incredible animals, with no calves recorded and none of the other members of the pod being sighted in recent years this unique pod will likely become extinct in our lifetime. Its heartbreaking – seeing them is a sad reminder of the human impact on our wildlife and I hope we can do better for future generations.
